Planning a road trip to Scotland this year? Whether you’re heading to the world-famous Edinburgh Festival, starting the legendary North Coast 500 (NC500), or exploring the Scottish Highlands, finding the perfect overnight stop can make all the difference to your journey.
At West Brightenflatt Caravan and Camping Site, we welcome guests from across the UK who are looking for a peaceful, convenient and scenic stopover near the Scottish border. Located in north Cumbria, just outside Carlisle and close to Junction 44 of the M6, our caravan site is ideally placed for anyone travelling north into Scotland. A perfect halfway stopover!
Many of our guests stay with us before continuing on to Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Highlands, Loch Lomond or the NC500 route. Instead of pushing through a long motorway drive in one go, West Brightenflatt offers a relaxing place to unwind, recharge and enjoy the countryside before the next stage of your adventure.
For visitors travelling to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August, our site is a fantastic overnight stop before arriving in Scotland’s busy capital. Edinburgh can be hectic during festival season, so many travellers prefer to break up the journey and arrive refreshed. From our peaceful location near Carlisle, Edinburgh is an easy drive the following day.
If you’re beginning the NC500 campervan or motorhome route, West Brightenflatt is also perfectly positioned as one of the last quiet stops before heading deeper into Scotland. Our location provides excellent access to the A75, A69 and M6, making onward travel simple and stress-free.
Guests often tell us how much they appreciate the peace and quiet here. Unlike large commercial holiday parks, West Brightenflatt is a secluded countryside caravan site with beautiful views towards the Lake District and Pennines. It’s the ideal place to relax after a long day on the road.
We offer:
Hardstanding and grass pitches
Electric hook-ups
Modern shower and toilet facilities
Excellent 4G coverage
Easy access for caravans, motorhomes and campervans
Dog-friendly camping
Stunning countryside views
Because we are located just south of the Scottish border, our site is also perfect for travellers visiting Gretna Green, Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District or the Scottish Borders.
Whether you’re travelling in a caravan, campervan, motorhome or tent, West Brightenflatt gives you a calm and comfortable place to stop before continuing your Scottish adventure.
If you’re planning a trip north this year, book your stay early — especially during summer holidays and Edinburgh Festival season.
